Single stage and two stage are the two main types of snow blowers. Single stage models are usually lighter and need less regular maintenance. They pick up snow by using a metal and rubber auger to scoop up the snow and throw it out of the way. The biggest reason not to use a single stage snow blower is that a lot of pollution is created by its two stroke engine. They will also not be as powerful as two stage snow blowers.
